A taste of the journey
How do I want to spend my Easter holiday? You might think sleeping till midday only to walk downstairs to turn on Netflix is the ideal scenario. This would be nice but instead I thought I’d try and get a taste of what my life could be like after education.
Before arriving in the office, I didn’t have much of an idea what to expect. Having scouted the WKM website, I could put names to faces but had no knowledge about the world of financial planning and investment management.
However, the team were very welcoming and I could immediately sense the supportive office environment created. Tim then gave me a taste of the services they provide, and I even created a mock fact find for myself. It was clear that the needs and goals of clients were at the forefront of everything they do.
Over the course of my 4 days, I tried to absorb as much of the business as possible and was amazed by the level of knowledge and expertise carried by the team across all aspects of the financial world from 50 year old pension schemes to the future applications of the metaverse. Their ability to connect with clients brought the process to life for me, I enjoyed how the experience felt very personal with both parties really understanding each other’s aims.
It was a great week for me personally and I feel as though I’ve gained a lot of knowledge not only in the workings of both the financial world but in business. As WKM are only a couple of years old, there’s still many new and exciting avenues they’re looking to pursue. The positive feel was infectious. They must be doing something right as I’ve not been put off the idea of working in the industry in the future.
